Membrane Carport Canopy
A car left under direct sun every day fades faster and the cabin gets hot, and the interior ages quicker with it. A membrane canopy keeps the heat and rain off and still looks like part of the building, which is the part metal or polycarbonate sheeting never quite manages.
AeroSpan designs, fabricates, and installs membrane carport canopies for homes, offices, hotels, and commercial parking areas across Indonesia. Every stage is handled by our own team, from structural calculations to tensioning the membrane on site.
Why membrane instead of metal or polycarbonate?
What clients usually mention once the canopy is up:
- Cooler. Membrane reflects most solar radiation, so the space underneath stays noticeably more comfortable than under a metal roof that stores heat.
- Wide spans, few columns. Tensile structures can shade several cars without a post in the middle of the manoeuvring area.
- A shape you can actually design. Arches, sails, cones. The carport can follow the character of the building instead of fighting it.
Metal sheet is cheaper to start with, but it's noisy in the rain and it holds heat. Polycarbonate passes heat through and yellows within a few years. Membrane is a different tier, and it's for owners who care how the place looks.
What we typically build
- Residential carports, one to four cars
- Office and commercial parking canopies
- Drop-off canopies for hotels, campuses, and hospitals
- Fleet parking for warehouses and industrial sites
For large parking fields, see also sports court membrane roofing; the structural principle is the same: wide spans with as few columns as possible.
Materials and structure
For carports we generally use PVC membrane with a PVDF topcoat. That coating is what keeps the surface clean and the colour stable; in a tropical climate the working life is typically 15 to 20 years with reasonable care. Frames are steel, duco-finished or galvanised, engineered against wind loads to the applicable loading standards.
Every canopy comes with our 10-year structural warranty covering both the frame and the membrane.
What does it cost?
Membrane carport pricing works per square metre and depends on four things: area and span, membrane grade, structural complexity, and site access. A standard two-car carport is a very different job from a 15-metre hotel drop-off. Send us your dimensions and a few site photos on WhatsApp and we will prepare a first estimate at no cost.
Frequently asked questions
How long does installation take?
A residential carport usually goes up in days once the frame and membrane are fabricated. End to end, from survey to installed, expect two to four weeks depending on the fabrication queue and design complexity.
Will it handle heavy rain and strong wind?
Yes. The slope and tension of the membrane are designed so water sheds immediately without ponding, and the structure is engineered for the wind loads at your location.
What maintenance does it need?
An occasional rinse with clean water. The PVDF coating keeps dust and grime from bonding to the surface, so there is no routine specialist maintenance.
