Membrane Canopies for Cikarang Industrial Estates
Cikarang was built around its industrial estates, not the other way round. Jababeka, MM2100, EJIP, Delta Silicon and their neighbours shape a town whose rush hour follows factory shifts. Shade requirements here have a different character from housing work. Nobody is buying a pretty roofline. They want a structure that survives hard use, keeps out of the way of vehicles, and can be installed without stopping production.
What needs covering on plant floors and yards
- Loading bays, so goods keep moving safely in the rain and the slab does not turn into standing water.
- Employee parking for motorbikes and cars, often at large counts, where the column grid must not eat parking bays.
- Canteens and outdoor rest areas that need shade while staying bright and ventilated rather than sealed and stuffy.
- Connecting walkways between production halls, warehouses, and offices, including routes that must stay dry as operators move across.
- Yard and material shading, covering stock that has not made it into the warehouse yet.
Wide spans without a forest of columns
On a plant site, columns are expensive for reasons that have nothing to do with price. Container trucks need turning radius, forklifts need straight runs, and a badly placed post gets hit sooner or later. This is where tensile membrane beats a conventional canopy: tensioned fabric covers a wider span from fewer supports, and the geometry can be steered so masts land on lines vehicles never cross. Span figures always come out of the design once we have the site wind loads and the circulation pattern, not from a catalogue page.
One benefit usually noticed only after installation: membrane fabric transmits daylight. Parking and canteen areas that ran lights at midday stop needing them, and work below stays readable.
Water and dust deserve attention at design stage. On a wide flat yard, runoff from the fabric needs somewhere to go instead of dropping at the edge and pooling in a forklift lane. We set the discharge points and flow direction against the drainage already on your site. As for dust, a plant environment soils fabric faster than a residential address, so a periodic cleaning interval belongs in the facility maintenance plan from the beginning rather than being remembered once the fabric looks dull.
Getting inside an estate means following its procedure
If you work in an industrial estate you already know this part often takes longer than the installation. Safety induction, hot work permits, equipment certificates, worker lists, full PPE, sometimes an escalation to estate HSE when the job touches shared areas. Our crew is used to that sequence and prefers to clear it before the schedule is locked rather than after. All we ask from your side is clarity on the estate rules early, so the working days quoted are realistic.
Scheduling around production shifts
Frame and fabric are fabricated at our Bogor workshop, so what enters your site is a kit ready to assemble. That is what makes it possible to fit installation into your window, whether that is a line stoppage, a weekend, or a night shift. Cikarang itself is still a day trip from Bogor on the toll road, so surveys and coordination visits do not need a special slot.
We have no completed project inside Cikarang that we can name, and we will not make one up. For a picture of how we operate inside Greater Jakarta industrial estates, our Bekasi membrane canopy page covers this corridor in more detail, and the automotive belt further east is on the Karawang page. The order of work from survey to handover is set out in our installation process guide.
Frequently asked questions
Can installation happen without stopping production?
Usually yes. Frame and fabric arrive finished from the workshop, so on-site work is assembly and can be scheduled into a night shift, a weekend, or a planned line stoppage.
Does the AeroSpan crew follow estate work-permit procedures?
Yes. Safety induction, work permits, worker lists, and PPE to estate rules are handled before the schedule is locked, so the working days in the quote hold up.
