Worth checking early: the city core and areas around heritage sites carry tighter rules on how buildings look. Before the design is locked, talk the direction through with your architect or the estate management, so nothing has to change once fabrication has started. Seismic load counts here, not only wind

Yogyakarta sits in a genuinely active seismic area, and that goes into the structural calculation alongside wind and rain load. Membrane structures have an advantage here that rarely gets discussed: the roof weighs very little. Less mass means the seismic force the columns and foundations have to carry is smaller than for conventional roofing over a comparable span. For an addition bolted onto an older building, that is often the technical argument that decides it.

How the work flows from Bogor

All fabrication finishes at our Bogor workshop, then the completed steelwork and membrane travel overland to Yogyakarta. The order runs like this: a first estimate from photos and dimensions, then a survey visit to measure and check the existing structure, then 3D design and structural calculations. Once the design is approved the work moves into the workshop, and the install crew travels when the material is ready. The crew stays near the site until the job is done, so field work is concentrated instead of dragging on for weeks.

Project size and keeping mobilisation down

Yogyakarta projects tend to be mid-size, which makes one thing worth saying plainly. A minimum project value applies nationally, and for sites outside Greater Jakarta the material haulage and crew mobilisation are worked out separately and written clearly into the quotation. We keep those figures on the official rate card so what you see is always current. The consequence is that a single small canopy in Yogyakarta often does not add up, because getting the crew there costs much the same as it would for a far bigger job.

The practical way around it is to gather everything on one property into a single package, say an entrance canopy, an outdoor dining area, and a parking canopy built in one go. One mobilisation covering several structures beats three separate trips across a year. Workmanship standards and a membrane warranty of up to 15 years and a 1-year workmanship warranty stay the same regardless of how far the site is from the workshop.
