Membrane Canopies in Depok

Depok is the nearest neighbour to our workshop. From Bogor, a site in Sawangan, Beji, Margonda, or Cimanggis is a short run away, and that shows up in the things that usually keep owners waiting: survey dates, material delivery, and how quickly a crew can come back if something needs adjusting later.

Proximity you feel in the schedule

Surveys for Depok sites are among the quickest we can arrange, often in the same week as the first message. Frame delivery carries no long-haul mobilisation cost either, and if you ever need the fabric tension checked or a small repair done, the crew simply drives over from the workshop instead of waiting for a convenient run. On a structure meant to last well over a decade, being easy to revisit is worth more than it looks on day one.

Carports in cluster housing

Cluster housing covers most of Depok, and carports are the most regular request from here. Plots tend to be narrow, which makes two things matter. First, a canopy that spans without a column in the middle, so car doors still open properly. Second, where the water goes. On tight plots, rain landing in the neighbour's yard is an argument you can design out from the start with the right slope and gutter. Some clusters also have facade rules set by the developer or estate manager, so shape and fabric colour are worth agreeing before fabrication rather than after the canopy is standing.

Campuses, schools, and education facilities

Depok is a student city, and structures around campuses follow their own pattern:

• Motorbike parking in large numbers, which needs efficient spans and safe clear height with people walking through.
• Covered links between buildings, so moving between classes stays dry when the afternoon rain arrives.
• Outdoor event space for stages, bazaars, and student activities that go ahead whatever the weather does.
• Courts and sports facilities for campuses and schools alike.

In education settings we usually schedule work during holidays or outside teaching hours, and the work zone is always fenced because foot traffic is heavy and hard to predict.

The streets around campus are also full of boarding houses and rented homes, and the request that comes from those is usually a roof over the tenants' motorbike parking. Small jobs, but the sizing has to be right: the front yard is normally tight and still has to leave a walking route and room for the gate to swing.

Cafes along the Margonda corridor

Coffee shops and eating places around Margonda and Kelapa Dua fill up outdoors, and many of them occupy rented buildings. Those two facts steer the design: the canopy has to keep the outdoor area usable through the day without going dark, and installation has to be quick because every closed day is lost revenue. Membrane helps on both counts, since the fabric passes daylight through and site work is assembly once fabrication is finished at the workshop.

Rain on the southern side of Greater Jakarta

Depok sits in a rainfall band closer to Bogor than to the north coast. That means fabric slope and drainage capacity have to be calculated for heavy rain that returns most afternoons, not for occasional drizzle. Ponding on tensioned fabric is a serious load and the most common complaint on canopies that were designed carelessly, so it is not a part we cut.
