Case Study: Terminal 3, Soekarno-Hatta Airport
Of the 200+ projects we've delivered, our membrane structure work in the Terminal 3 precinct of Soekarno-Hatta Airport ranks among the most demanding, and it shaped the working standards we hold to this day.
The context
Terminal 3 is Indonesia's main air gateway, the newest and largest terminal at the country's busiest airport. Any construction work in an environment like this answers to far stricter standards than a typical commercial project: layered work-safety requirements, tightly controlled access and working hours, and non-negotiable coordination across many parties.
What working airside actually means
On projects like this, quality means a process that can be audited, well beyond the finished result. Several things become mandatory:
- Absolute fabrication precision. Installation windows are narrow and regulated. Frames and fabric must arrive genuinely ready to install, because there's no room for trial-and-error adjustments on site.
- Accountable structural calculations. Wind loads across open airport terrain, safety over the public areas below, and documented calculations are all part of the handover.
- Schedule discipline. Slipping one phase means restarting work-permit processes. Installation sequencing is planned down to the day.
- The right material. A public facility with a long design life demands top-class membrane with strong UV resistance and easy upkeep.
Our approach
Our biggest advantage on this project was the in-house model. With design, fabrication, and installation in one team, phase-to-phase coordination never depended on third parties: the fabric patterns leaving our workshop were verified against field measurements by the same people who would install them.
That model is what let us hit tight installation windows without sacrificing detail quality, from weld seams to final fabric tension.
What it means for your project
Not every project is an airport, but the standards forged there carry into all our work: precision workshop fabrication, documented structural calculations, and schedules that hold. If your facility demands similar standards, from transport hubs to large commercial precincts, we've already passed a stricter test.
